There are plenty of good audioweblogs for any kind of contemporary music - rock, indepedent, hip-hop... Try http://www.mp3blogs.org/.

For exploring classical and jazz, it is really important to choose a good start point. Some good baroque performances would serve well. Look for some of these:
- Cecilia Bartoli and Il giardino armonico: The Vivaldi Album
- Il giardino armonico: Musica Barocca
- Musica Antiqua Koeln: Bach's Brandenburg Concertos.
I strongly advise you not to buy compilations.

Also, check L'Accordone (http://www.accordone.it/e-music.htm) and their unusual programmes which range from medieval music to canzone napoletane.

Jazz: try with some classical recordings. They deserve the attribute. Two of my all-time favorites are: Jazz at Massey Hall, one of the most famous live recordings in jazz history, which brought together five of bebop's greatest figures: Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, Max Roach and Charles Mingus. Another is Miles Davis' Soundtrack for Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud (Lift To The Scaffold), a film by Louis Malle.

I hope this helps.
